Pakistan Economy: Sep’24 LSMI growth up 0.46%MoM – By Taurus Research

- Large Scale Manufacturing Index (LSMI) surged 0.46%MoM in Sept’24, due to key contributors i.e. Tobacco (53%), Automobiles (33%), Wearing Apparel (24%) and Other transport equipment (22%), respectively. Whereas, major decliners were Machinery & Equipment (-73%), Furniture (-66%) and Electrical Equipment (- 31%), accordingly. 1QFY25 LSMI was up 3%QoQ.
- Textile production saw a slight 2%YoY increase in Sep’24 but fell by 1%MoM, primarily due to increase in production of yarn, cloth, terry & towels, and woolen & carpet yarn by 8.8%YoY, 0.72%YoY, 5.32%YoY, and 2.49%YoY, respectively. Whereas, increased by 3%YoY in 1QFY25 attributable to increase in production of yarn, cloth, and Terry & Towels by 8.80%YoY, 0.82%YoY and 5.34%YoY, respectively—driven by export demand.
