- Total Cement dispatches in Nov’24 down 5%MoM amid plunge in exports by 26%MoM on the back of resurgence of geopolitical tensions i.e. resuming Russia-Ukraine war and Middle East unrest. Though, total local sales showed signs of growth (up 2% MoM) in Nov’24 as construction activities started to accelerate due to Government’s initiative of introducing construction package from Jan’25. However, domestic players are cautious on the growth prospects of domestic sales during FY25 due to surge in taxes for the construction sector and suppressed spending power which allowed them to focus on increasing their exports (benefiting largely the South region players).
- North based domestic sales fell merely by 1%MoM as increase in cost efficiencies along with stabilization of prices has maintained domestic sales volume. Whereas, South based domestic sales went up by 18%MoM in Nov’24 on the back of higher retention prices amid stable international coal prices. On the export front, North and South based export sales were down by 17%MoM and 28%MoM, respectively.
