- Total Cement dispatches in Dec’24 remained flat compared to the previous month due to mixed trend in local and export dispatches. However, total domestic sales showed signs of growth (up 1%MoM) in Dec’24 as construction activities started to accelerate due to Government’s initiative of introducing construction package. Export sales were down 2%MoM on the back of the holiday season as trading activities were slow in Dec’24. During 1HFY25, total cement sales fell by 4%YoY as domestic sales faced a significant decline (10%YoY) amid growth concerns in light of the surge in taxes for the construction sector during FY25 and suppressed spending power. This forced players to boost export sales (32%YoY in 1HFY25) in order to maintain utilization levels.
- North-based domestic sales recorded a minor increase of 1% MoM in Dec’24 owing to a seasonal slowdown in construction activities. South-based domestic sales remained flat over the previous month. On the export front, North-based exports plunged by 32%MoM. Conversely, South-based exports increased by 5%MoM.
