- Cement dispatches for Dec-2024 clocked in at 4.15mn tons, depicting a 2% YoY increase due to higher exports of 49% YoY, as manufacturers continued their focus on exports to maintain capacity utilizations amidst depressed local demand. On a cumulative bases, total dispatches clocked in at 22.96mn tons in 1HFY25, down 4% YoY.
- Notably, local cement dispatches dropped 5% YoY in Dec-2024 owing to unfavorable weather conditions this year in the North region (-5% YoY), while South dispatches (17% of local cement dispatches in Dec-2024) remained relatively stable YoY. On a MoM basis, both local and export dispatches remained stable at +1% and -2%, respectively.
- Cement prices have declined by Rs50-70/bag during recent weeks in the Northern region, we anticipate this decline in cement prices to stabilize in the coming months as local demand is likely to recover post the ongoing winter season. Additionally, we expect dispatches to rebound in the latter part of FY25 led by improving macros and ongoing monetary easing.
