Pakistan Economy: Jan-25 remittances up 25% YoY; 7MFY25 rise 32% YoY - By JS Research

- Pakistan's remittance inflows remained strong in Jan-2025, reaching US$3bn, reflecting an impressive 25% YoY increase. Cumulatively, in 7MFY25, overseas Pakistanis remitted US$20.8bn, marking a 32% YoY growth.
- The growth is led by strong remittance flows from UAE and KSA, with a jump of 53% YoY and 24%, respectively in Jan-2025. During 7MFY25, inflows combined from the two countries jumped by 42% YoY. Notably the pace of YoY growth from these two countries which picked up from Mar-2024, is now stabilizing.
- Recent months have witnessed a remarkable turnaround in Pakistan's current account, with remittances providing vital support. Remittances over the past eleven months have averaged US$3bn/month, a significant increase from the US$2.3- 2.4bn monthly average seen in FY23 and majority of FY24.
