PSX Closing Bell: The Sound of Silence

October 29, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Wednesday's trading session at 158,465.05, showing a decrease of 1,635.97 points or 1.02%.

The index traded in a range of 2,383.28 points showing an intraday high of 160,690.12 (+589.10) and a low of 158,306.84 (-1,794.18) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 390.15 million shares.

 

Of the 100 index companies 19 closed up, 78 closed down, 2 were unchanged, while 1 remained untraded.

Top losers during the day were TGL (-10.00%), TPLRF1 (-7.88%), PAEL (-6.77%), GHGL (-6.16%), and GADT (-5.36%).

On the other hand, top gainers were SSOM (+10.00%), THALL (+5.99%), JVDC (+5.04%), DHPL (+3.45%), and KEL (+3.23%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were LUCK (-153.84pts), UBL (-138.30pts), MARI (-118.13pts), MCB (-86.19pts), and EFERT (-81.01pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were NBP (+80.09pts), THALL (+46.50pts), BAFL (+21.34pts), JVDC (+19.98pts), and ILP (+19.13pts).

 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Cement (-363.01pts), Commercial Banks (-331.03pts), Fertilizer (-146.30pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-133.70pts), and Pharmaceuticals (-95.65pts).

While the index was supported by Automobile Parts & Accessories (+46.50pts), Property (+19.98pts), Modarabas (+3.09pts), Vanaspati & Allied Industries (+1.80pts), and Paper, Board & Packaging (+0.92pts).

 

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 50,182.92 with a net loss of 518.08 points or 1.02%.

Total market volume was 951.84 million shares compared to 1,018.74m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs41.31 billion showing an increase of Rs4.37bn.

There were 435,862 trades reported in 478 companies with 123 closing up, 314 closing down, and 41 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 32,838 points or 26.14% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 43,338 points or 37.64% so far this calendar year.
