PSX Closing Bell: Bulls on the Back Foot

December 17, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Wednesday's trading session at 170,313.85, showing a decrease of 133.44 points.

The index traded in a range of 2,162.13 points showing an intraday high of 171,392.62 (+945.33) and a low of 169,230.49 (-1,216.80) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 435.47 million shares.

 

Of the 100 index companies 35 closed up, 64 closed down, while 1 were unchanged.

Top losers during the day were DHPL (-10.00%), SSGC (-5.37%), ISL (-3.36%), INIL (-3.26%), and SRVI (-3.01%).

On the other hand, top gainers were NBP (+5.33%), SEARL (+3.90%), AKBL (+3.52%), PIOC (+3.08%), and UBL (+2.75%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were LUCK (-174.69pts), ENGROH (-121.74pts), OGDC (-93.83pts), FFC (-69.22pts), and DHPL (-63.11pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were UBL (+320.32pts), NBP (+208.35pts), HBL (+149.68pts), AKBL (+49.46pts), and PIOC (+43.21pts).

 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-190.91pts), Cement (-188.84pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-187.37pts), Fertilizer (-134.84pts), and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (-75.07pts).

While the index was supported by Commercial Banks (+794.26pts), Pharmaceuticals (+25.75pts), Cable & Electrical Goods (+14.19pts), Refinery (+5.43pts), and Automobile Parts & Accessories (+4.87pts).

 

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 103,015.58 with a net gain of 32.70 points or 0.03%.

Total market volume was 1,068.51 million shares compared to 1,176.64m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs51.80 billion showing a decrease of Rs1.67bn.

There were 460,754 trades reported in 483 companies with 178 closing up, 255 closing down, and 50 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 44,687 points or 35.57% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 55,187 points or 47.94% so far this calendar year.
