April 17, 2026 (MLN): Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC) has increased the retail price of Sona Urea by RS125 per bag, raising it from Rs4,400 to Rs4,525, effective April 16, 2025, according to channel checks conducted by Ismail Iqbal Securities.
This marks another upward revision in fertilizer pricing,
following the earlier increase on April 9, 2024, which was primarily driven by
higher feed gas costs.
In contrast, the latest adjustment appears to be cost-push
in nature, largely attributed to rising selling and distribution expenses.
According to Ismail Iqbal Securities, the recent increase in
petrol and High-Speed Diesel (HSD) prices has significantly elevated logistics
and distribution costs, prompting the company to pass on the impact to end
consumers through higher urea prices.
With this revision, Sona Urea remains one of the most
closely tracked fertilizer products in the domestic market, given its
widespread usage in the agriculture sector and its sensitivity to input cost
fluctuations, particularly energy and transportation expenses.
