Company Limited (PSX:OGDC) has successfully revived gas production from the
Jand-1 well in Attock District, Punjab, with output now exceeding 21 MMSCFD, a
threefold jump from its previous level of around 7.0 MMSCFD.
The well, producing through a 32/64" choke at a
wellhead flowing pressure of 3,585 psi, was brought back online following
recompletion and targeted stimulation carried out entirely by OGDC's in-house
technical team.
Jand-1 was originally brought into production in 2019 via
the Dakhni Gas Processing Plant but had been shut down due to mechanical
failure caused by a highly corrosive sour gas environment, with hydrogen
sulphide (H₂S) concentrations running as high as 8% (~80,000 ppm).
The revival operation involved the safe retrieval of
downhole materials and full restoration of well integrity under these
challenging conditions. The well has since been recompleted with
corrosion-resistant tubing designed for sour service to ensure long-term, safe
operations.
OGDC said the development highlights its strategy of maximizing
value from existing assets through technical expertise, with the added benefit
of strengthening domestic hydrocarbon supply.
The aforementioned was disseminated
