PSX Closing Bell: A Slim Green Finish

July 31, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) closed the week on a positive note, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index gaining over 500 points as buying interest in key sectors, particularly commercial banks, investment companies, cement, and textile stocks, supported the market.

The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Friday's trading session at 176,094.11, showing an increase of 546.13 points or 0.31%.

The index remained positive throughout the day, touching an intraday high of 177,108.66 (+1,560.68 points) and a low of 175,934.99 (+387.01 points).

The total volume traded in the KSE-100 Index stood at 210.43 million shares.


Of the 100 index companies, 62 closed higher, 36 ended lower, while 2 remained unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were AICL (+4.22%), KTML (+4.10%), KOHC (+3.67%), AHCL (+3.20%), and PKGS (+2.55%).

On the other hand, top losers were HGFA (-3.77%), INIL (-2.10%), TRG (-1.54%), JVDC (-1.33%), and GHGL (-1.05%).


In terms of index-point contributions, ENGROH (+88.05pts), HBL (+48.94pts), LUCK (+46.41pts), BAHL (+34.03pts), and AKBL (+33.21pts) propped up the index.

Meanwhile, EFERT (-40.18pts), UBL (-23.14pts), JVDC (-12.94pts), HMB (-12.94pts), and MLCF (-11.95pts) dragged the index lower.


Sector-wise, the KSE-100 Index was supported by Commercial Banks (+171.74pts), Investment Banks / Investment Companies / Securities Companies (+107.34pts), Cement (+93.53pts), Textile Composite (+50.13pts), and Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+40.55pts).

While the index was let down by Fertilizer (-22.96pts), Property (-12.94pts), Engineering (-6.22pts), Close-End Mutual Fund (-5.32pts), and Tobacco (-4.45pts).


In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 106,530.88, showing a net gain of 313.69 points or 0.30%.

Total market volume stood at 880.95 million shares, compared with 711.20m in the previous session, while traded value was recorded at Rs24.96 billion, showing a decrease of Rs0.44bn.

A total of 333,412 trades were reported across 493 companies, with 273 stocks closing higher, 185 lower, and 35 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has lost 4,208 points or 2.33% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 2,040 points or 1.17% so far this calendar year.
