December 11, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PSX: PPL) has a significant oil and gas discovery from the exploratory well Baragzai X-01 (Slant) in the Nashpa Block, located in the district Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The well, operated by Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) with a 65% working interest, is jointly owned by PPL (30%) and Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) with a 5% carried interest.
Drilling at Baragzai X-01 began on December 24, 2024, and the well reached its target depth of 5,170 meters in the Kingriali Formation.
Based on the interpretation of open-hole wireline logs, a successful cased-hole Drill Stem Test (DST) was carried out in the Kingriali Formation.
The well recorded a flow of 2,280 barrels per day of oil and 5.6 million standard cubic feet per day of gas at a 32/64" choke, with a wellhead flowing pressure of 2,400 psi.
This marked the first hydrocarbon discovery from the Kingriali Formation in the Nashpa Block, a development that further reduces exploration risk for deeper prospects in the area.
The find is expected to enhance the country’s indigenous hydrocarbon supply and contribute to national reserve growth.
