PSX Closing Bell: Bulls Stay in Control

July 16, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) extended its recovery on Thursday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index posting another strong gain as investors continued value buying following the previous week's sharp correction.

Market sentiment remained upbeat as bargain hunting in fundamentally strong stocks, lifted banking, cement, fertilizer, and power shares.

The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Thursday's trading session at 178,123.56, up 2,837.78 points or 1.62%.

The index remained positive throughout the day, touching an intraday high of 178,431.73 (+3,145.95 points) and a low of 175,672.33 (+386.55 points).


The total volume traded in the KSE-100 Index stood at 311.88 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies, 80 closed higher while 20 ended lower.

Top gainers during the day were PIOC (+8.79%), NPL (+7.92%), SNGP (+5.82%), FATIMA (+5.56%), and TRG (+4.89%).

On the losing side were IBFL (-2.37%), HGFA (-2.23%), UPFL (-1.46%), RMPL (-0.71%), and LOTCHEM (-0.49%).


In terms of index-point contributions, ENGROH (+310.93pts), UBL (+234.46pts), MEBL (+150.63pts), HUBC (+136.42pts), and LUCK (+134.47pts) provided the biggest support to the benchmark.

Meanwhile, UPFL (-6.81pts), IBFL (-4.02pts), HGFA (-3.53pts), RMPL (-3.26pts), and THALL (-2.22pts) limited the gains.


Sector-wise, the KSE-100 Index was supported by Commercial Banks (+848.62pts), Investment Banks / Investment Companies / Securities Companies (+345.91pts), Cement (+410.72pts), Fertilizer (+272.49pts), and Power Generation & Distribution (+186.59pts).

On the downside, Synthetic & Rayon (-4.02pts), Close-End Mutual Fund (-3.53pts), Automobile Parts & Accessories (-2.22pts), Textile Spinning (-0.15pts), and Modarabas (-0.13pts) exerted minor pressure on the index.


In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 107,920.52, up 1,383.71 points or 1.30%.

Total market volume stood at 736.96 million shares, compared with 583.80m in the previous session, while traded value rose by Rs8.56bn to Rs34.61bn.

A total of 395,328 trades were reported across 496 companies, with 342 stocks closing higher, 129 lower, and 25 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has lost 2,178 points or 1.21% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 4,069 points or 2.34% so far this calendar year.
