Opening a Pakistan Stock Exchange trading account involves more than downloading an app. You need a relationship with a securities broker that is licensed by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, an identity record in the capital-market system, a custody arrangement for securities, and a verified way to move money. The exact screens and documents vary by broker, but the control points below remain useful.
Understand the account chain
The brokerage account is where orders, cash balances, statements, and trading access are managed. Securities are held electronically through the Central Depository System in either the relevant sub-account structure or an Investor Account arrangement. A Unique Identification Number connects the investor identity with transactions processed through the market infrastructure. Your bank account supports verified deposits and withdrawals.
These records should carry consistent identity, mobile, email, bank, and address details. A spelling or number mismatch can delay verification, alerts, settlement, or withdrawal. Ask the broker to explain each account identifier instead of treating every number on the welcome email as interchangeable.
Choose a licensed broker
Begin with current PSX and SECP records, then compare service, platform reliability, tariff, reporting, custody process, support, and complaint handling. A social-media page, app-store listing, or referral code is not proof of a valid securities-broker licence. Use the PSX broker selection checklist before sharing documents or money.
Select the account route
A conventional account uses the applicable customer relationship and KYC process. A qualifying local individual may also ask about a Sahulat Account, which uses simplified requirements and applies product and position restrictions under current rules. Overseas Pakistanis and other eligible non-resident customers may have a different digital path through Roshan Digital Account and Roshan Equity Investment.
Do not select an account only because it is quicker to open. Confirm which markets, products, custody model, funding methods, limits, and conversion options are available. Read the current official form and broker terms before signing.
Complete the opening process
- Verify the broker's legal name, licence, TREC details, approved website, and official contact channel.
- Read the account-opening form, risk disclosure, KYC declarations, custody terms, tariff schedule, privacy terms, and complaint process.
- Provide accurate identity, tax, contact, occupation or source-of-income, nominee, and bank information required for your customer type.
- Complete biometric, liveness, document, or other verification requested through the official process.
- Confirm the assigned brokerage account, UIN, and CDS custody details.
- Create a strong unique password, enable multi-factor protection where offered, and secure the registered email and mobile number.
- Fund only through a permitted account in your own name and preserve the transfer evidence.

Place a controlled first order
Before ordering, learn the quote fields, order types, trading session status, available cash, and total estimated cost. Verify the ticker and quantity. After execution, compare the broker confirmation with the order and later statement. Market-data tools such as KseAlert help with research and monitoring; only the licensed broker handles the actual order.
Keep the signed forms, tariff, deposit proof, confirmations, periodic statements, and complaint correspondence. If an unexplained trade, cash movement, or securities movement appears, contact the broker promptly through a recorded official channel and follow the escalation process described in current PSX guidance.
